Root studies with camera lucida depict miniscule portions of the roots and clinging soil of Tallgrass Prairie plants. My “interaction” with the plant specimens occurred with the help of a microscope and an historic optical device: a camera lucida. Two images (one of the roots as seen through the microscope, and one of my hand moving, elsewhere) were superimposed to create a live double-exposure.
